Madh Ortogh is situated in the Eastern Wastes (to the West of Middle Earth). These lesser-known Men allied with Sauron in the War of the Ring near the end of the Third Age. Madh Ortogh Madh Ortogh was built by the Variags in eastern Mordor along a sheer desert rock wall. Only the most skilled rider can be part of this elite force. Neutral Units Bree Rider Bree’s townsmen volunteer to defend the city in times of need.
What’s most important to note is that Zegrid is designed for giving Dunlending Warriors the Initiative over enemies (especially Mounted Units) which is vital as many of the Rohirrim commanders rely on having the Initiative for maximum damage output. His R3 Enemy of the Rohirrim branch is chiefly composed of commander skills that deal damage and his R5 branch buffs allied troops and Dunlending Warriors. His R1 Reckless branch buffs commander damage and has two skills which can stun and decrease the defence of the enemy. His R1 Brigand boosts damage for himself and allies on vacant land and his Battle Conditioning skill may be able to give his melee troops enough speed to beat Mounted Units in gaining the Initiative (i.e. Whether he lives up to that expectation remains to be seen. Zegrid is a Might boosted commander designed to counter Mounted Units. His quest to reclaim the Lonely Mountain proved successful with the help of Gandalf, his own siblings and friends, and an unlikely Hobbit. Thorin Thorin II Oakenshield is a great King of the Dwarves. Imrahil with just Cataphracts is decent but has the potential to be quite good when paired with Swan Knights who can taunt. His R3 Heir and R5 Prince of Dol Amroth branches work well to sustain Swan Knights and Cataphracts which means that Imrahil’s damage output would be reliant on other units. Additionally, Brawler is very situational and Cleave is ok. His R1 The Fair skill is fairly decent, but its Max Level Effect is entirely useless in combat, and it doesn’t synergize well with any of his other skill branches. His skill composition makes for a decent tile defending commander with his R1 Ally branch entirely made for sustaining Mounted Units (i.e. You wander the map killing enemies, completing objectives and smashing boxes and barrels to find the loot hidden within.Imrahil is a Might boosted commander with an affinity for Mounted Units. Of course you could play the game in co-op with a friend playing as one of the characters and it truly feels like this is the way the game was meant to be played. From here on the game is standard action RPG / dungeon crawler fare, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Once you pick a character you must play as them for the entire level, though you can go back and replay through with one of the others if you wish, and there’s nothing forcing you to stick with one of them the entire game. Before you start an area you’re asked to choose between the three playable characters all with their own standard strenghts and weaknesses. While the parts in town are boring and simply frustrating, when the game finally gets to the action things take a considerable step up. As you leave the town you’re taken to world map which lets you select your next location/mission in an old-school “choose your destination” format. I didn’t spend too much time wandering around, however, and headed towards the first mission where the real action started.
